Typical Edinburgh Scene

No matter what time of year, you'll always come across a piper somewhere in Edinburgh. In summer there are more than usual and they do add a certain feeling of Scottishness when you come out of the station or step off the aiport bus and hear the pipes. When played well, the pipes can be beautiful, breath-taking, haunting, but imagine if you had one of these guys playing outside your office window, all day, every day...which does happen up on the High Street outside the City Chambers.

I pass him just about every weekend and to be honest I reckon he's the grumpiest piper I've ever come across . . . hope he's not reading this :-)

I do love the bagpipes, but I agree it would be tiresome to listen to all day every day.

I love the sound of bagpipes toop but that could be because I don't hear them everyday all day!

I really DISLIKE this piper. I've seen him get really pissy with tourist who dont drop money in his box. He actually starting shouting at a bunch of tourists once as I was waiting by the monument. Miserable bugger.
