Fancy Gates

Nothing is plain and simple at the Parliament Building...thinking pods, curtain pelmets, bamboo-like oak sunscreens, hardly a straight line in sight and Charles Rennie Mackintosh inspired security gates on the Canongate side of the building. Fabulous! You either love this building or loathe it!

Maybe I'm just a tad peculiar, but, rather like the curate's egg, I find both good and bad in it.

What it aspires to, in my opinion cannot be faulted. Whether it achieves the aspiration is a different matter.

I'm also concerned as to whether it will stand the test of time. Too many modern structures look seedy after a very short time. Hopefully that will not be the case here.

Bill - couldnt agree more. Only time will tell what it looks like in 10, 20 years time...will it need more vast sums of money spent on it to keep it looking good or to renovate it?
