The problem the architects of the Omni Centre were faced with was how to integrate this old façade into the new building. It is a listed structure and as such could not be knocked down. For a long time, all that was on this site was the old façade held up by support structures and a large empty building site. I think the architects did a pretty good job as the glass makes the old part of the building stand out, but they've still been able to use at as an integral part of the whole structure. It's the entrance to a nightclub called Mood, if anyone is interested!

They did a fantastic job- I hate it when old buildings are knocked down to make way for new ones.

At first, I didn't think it worked very well. But then I enlarged the photo, and love the way the glass extends to the left of the old building as well. Very beautiful!
didnt like it at first glance. Hmmm,,,after staring for a while,found it kind of cool particularly suitable for clubs, i think :)

I wasn't liking it either at first look but it's nice to know they combined it rather than knocking the older part down. I understand their are older buildings threatened in the Old Town of Edinburgh right now. Why can't they do the same there?
Mood is dreadful! Nice building but god awful inside!
