Yet another view from Calton Hill, this time looking north towards the Old Town and the brightly painted North Bridge. North Bridge is an important artery in this city, linking the Old Town to the New Town. Underneath North Bridge, there is no water - anyone know what's there? If not, I'll show you tomorrow. When you come to Edinburgh, your first stop really should be a trip up Calton Hill because the views all around are truly spectacular.

I love it! I was in Edinburgh last summer, and if I remember correctly there is a shopping mall type thing under the bridge. Your city is sooo gorgeous!
shopping mall is not quite under the bridge...something a bit bigger. glad you like the city though sarah.
you can clearly see the different street levels in some of these buildings and the real height of them from this view.
I "guessed" again, but it wasn't really fair, only because I am a total librarian and looked it up. I will give others a chance to guess!
I love the light in this picture. Or maybe it's just the glow of the stone. Whatever it is, it's pretty. I was looking at that bridge and it looks a lot like a part of New Westminster in B.C., Canada. In that case there is a whole whack of train tracks running underneath. So I'm just going to be crazy and unlibrarian-like and take a wild guess. Is there a train station under the bridge?

Lol, not really. I stayed there for business reasons, I would not be able to afford even one night there for ages ;-)
